Where do my photos go when I scan?
To be read, a scan is sent to our AI provider, Anthropic, and the details come back to you. Anthropic doesn’t train on it. Photos you keep on your records are stored privately, for your household only.
What if it reads something wrong?
You see everything a scan found before it’s saved, and you can change any field. Answers in Ask show the records they came from, so you can check them. For anything important, like a warranty date or a dose, check the original.
What does Ask share, and what stays on my phone?
On the free plan, your phone answers “when” questions and finds records itself, and nothing is sent. With Plus, Ask sends a summary of your household to our AI provider, Anthropic, including family health details like medications and allergies, after asking your permission. It asks again before it starts sending a new kind of information. The codes and passwords in Codes & Access, ID numbers, photos, and mortgage and home-value details are left out. The privacy policy lists exactly what’s included.
Do I need an account?
Not to start. Roof & Root works on one phone without one. A free account backs up your home and lets your family join, and you need one for scans and AI answers on any plan.
Is my information secure?
Your records are encrypted in transit and at rest, database rules limit them to your household, and photos sit in private storage. No system is perfectly secure, so keep the originals of anything critical.
Can my whole family use it?
Yes, and sharing is free. Invite them from Settings and everyone 13 and up sees the same records, calendar and shopping list on their own iPhone. Kids get a profile for their sizes and doctors.
Does one Plus cover my family?
For Ask, yes: everyone in your household gets Plus answers and shares the 1,000 questions a month. For scans, get Plus on the phone that does the scanning. Sharing, the calendar, the list and reminders are free for everyone.
What happens if I stop Plus?
Everything you’ve kept stays, including the photos you already added, and you keep every free feature. New AI scans, AI answers and new photos wait until you come back to Plus.
Is there an Android or iPad version?
Not yet. Roof & Root is made for iPhone, on iOS 16.4 or later. An iPad can run the iPhone app, but it isn’t designed for iPad yet.
Can I take my records with me?
Yes. Settings → Export a backup saves every record to one file, anytime, on every plan. Photos and documents aren’t in it yet. If you have an account, email us and we’ll send the ones saved to it.
How do I get help or delete my account?
Email info@roofandroot.app and we’ll reply ourselves. You can delete your account in the app at any time; here’s how.
